You asked. We answered. The expansion of the Lawrence Township Dual-Immersion Program continues. Serving the district for twenty plus years, the Forest Glen Elementary Immersion program is a national leader in bilingual education. Its popularity “STEMmed” the expansion of the program to Skiles Test Elementary in 2018. While keeping the school’s STEM focus, Skiles Test has added Spanish Dual Language Immersion. Early application for BOTH Skiles Test and Forest Glen (incoming Preschool - incoming Kindergarten*), for the 2020-2021 school year will be open November 1 - 29, 2019. The application will be available on the Enrollment Page of our website.
Unique to the Skiles Test expansion is the blending of the immersion program with the current state-accredited STEM program. Not only will students receive core instruction in Spanish, but they will continue existing programming in robotics, coding and environmental science.
Grades 1 - 6 at Forest Glen and Grades 1 - 3 at Skiles Test may apply for admission in either Spanish Immersion program by submitting a CAP (Computerized Admittance Program) application, which will fill open seats through a lottery system. The CAP will be open Monday, April 6 - May 15, 2020. Acceptance to immersion for grades 2-6 will require an assessment to ensure the child has enough Spanish speaking ability to be successful in the immersion classroom.
